How can V-Active Sports Therapy Help You?

At V-Active Sports Therapy, the treatment doesn't just stop at the sports massage. Rehabilitation is key to getting you back to your sporting or daily activities. It also helps to extend the effects of the sports massage treatment, decreases recovery time, increases healing and can prevent further injuries.  During a sports massage treatment, techniques maybe used to assist with lengthening muscle fibres. These include PNF (also known as muscle energy techniques) and Soft Tissue Release techniques depending on the aim of the treatment and whether there is an injury present. These techniques can target individual muscles or a group of muscles to stretch and improve the range of movement.

Do I really need to stretch...?

The short answer is… yes!

Following treatment you have found yourself being sent away with some specific stretches as part of your recovery plan. Rehabilitation is ultimately a team effort, any effort that you put in towards your rehabilitation will reduce the length of time that you are away from your sport or your hobby.  If the cause of the issue cannot be changed such as a job role, stretches can aid to manage and maintain the issue, reduce the discomfort or prevent the issue reoccurring.

Stretching has many other benefits and if kept as a regular programme, can help improve posture, circulation and coordination. It can also help improve relaxation and release stress.

Strengthening

Injury Rehab

Giving You Confidence

Strengthening exercises maybe another part of your rehabilitation programme especially if you have an injury or there is an imbalance of strength.

Joints like the knee are stabilised by the muscles around the joint. If there is an injury, strengthening to maintain a level of stability is really important. Not only will it support the joint but it may reduce the time of strength building after the injury has healed.

Mobility is also really important both for the sporting and the unsporty, those with injuries which are hindering daily basic activities.

Shoulder injuries whether it be ligament or muscle damage require some level of mobility. The shoulder joint itself has the greatest range of movement in the body. Following an injury, mobility is introduced as soon as it is safe to do so. This can prevent another condition known as frozen shoulder.

The aim is to install confidence in you that you can move following an injury or use the injured part of the body without fear that more damage is going to occur or that it’s going to be extremely painful. The exercises are incremental with varying grades of difficulty.
